Frequently Asked Questions

If you cannot find the answer you are looking for email us on FAQ@SoftwareAsAService.co.nz

What level of BroadBand do I need?

Of course, the faster the better.

The Upload speed is more critical than the Download speed for most applications. So take up a plan which gives 256 Kbps (Kilo bits per second). This will usually be coupled with 2Mbps (Mega bits per second). [Note these speeds talk about "bits" not "bytes".]

If in doubt talk about it with us - it depends on the need to capture graphics rather than any other one thing. TOC

How is Backup done?

Various back-up options are available.

Commonly backup (disk-to-disk) is run automativally every 24 hours and then to physically removeable medium once a week.

Additionally you can backload a copy of your data on demand - either the full database or just incremental changes.

For transactions we often provide, normally by email, copies of transactions: these arise naturally - for example if an order is placed over the service an email is set to despatch and it can hold all the relevant data in a recoverable form.

For more security we can use special servers which write all data on to a second disk so that if one disk fails the second disk automatically comes into use.

Finally we can provide a replicated database on another machine hosted in another physical location.

For higher levels of backup expect to pay a little more. TOC
